Sunderfolk
Sunderfolk (Secret Door) is a couch co-op RPG inspired by tabletop RPG’s like Dungeons and Dragons and Gloomhaven. In Sunderfolk, your party of heroes travels through the subterranean Sunderlands, on a mission to protect their village from a closing shadow.
Implementing a novel phone-based controller, Sunderfolk allows you and up to 3 friends to enjoy a shared experience around a single main screen, without sacrificing the depth of strategic information and detail provided by the phone.
I worked on Sunderfolk for three years as a gameplay engineer and technical game designer (2022-2025), from early production stages to launch. I was often design’s first point of contact for investigating new combat features, and making small but numerous improvements to our tooling and game content models. These could range from small QoL adjustments to their content authoring experience, to large scale reworks of our character action model. I also did a fair amount of hands on design, designing and implementing one of the game’s 3 bosses, 8 missions, and the early passes on multiple heroes. I’ve continued bug support on Sunderfolk as necessary, but since August, 2025, have mostly moved to our spinoff, Shadowstone.
