Shadowstone

Shadowstone is a co-op tactical roguelite in the world of Sunderfolk. Building on the characters and mechanics of Sunderfolk, Shadowstone accelerates the tactical experience and power scale, facing players against increasingly dangerous monsters and scenarios, while also letting them experiment with increasingly powerful and complex builds.

I have been working on Shadowstone since August, 2025, and was part of the founding four person prototyping team for the project. I have helped define technical constraints in the system, as well as identify areas for growth and experimentation, built on top of the systems we developed for Sunderfolk. I have a lot of interest in the roguelite space, and have put a lot of time and thought into supporting Shadowstone, to make it the best game that it can be. While more of the Secret Door team has moved over to the project since we started, I’m still the dedicated gameplay engineer, and design’s first point of contact for new gameplay content.

As a designer, I am helping design and implement new monsters, bosses, and equipment. As an engineer, I am creating tools and systems that accelerate our development and give us more points of leverage to create an experience people will keep coming back to. Shadowstone has given me an amazing range of opportunities not just to flex design and engineering muscles, but to help solve problems best suited to someone capable of straddling both.
